Confident EEG interpretation depends on understanding the fundamental principles of digital EEG recording, and having a full appreciation of state background changes of the EEG. Starting with a review of the “black box” that generates modern digital EEG output, this session will then guide the audience through major EEG changes as the background state changes from physiologic sleep, to abnormal encephalopathy and coma, and finally to the emergency states of status epilepticus.
