This full day course is designed to review the essential elements of neuro-oncology with an emphasis on neurosurgical oncology. Topics will include neuropathology, surgical management of different types of brain tumour, radiation therapy including stereotactic radiosurgery, medical neuro-oncology and neuro-oncology research. Emphasis will be on "what you need to know" and the course is particularly targeted towards neurosurgery residents and fellows, though it should have appeal to practicing neurosurgeons and neurologists. The course will include a case-based "Tumour Board" discussion with all faculty members that incorporates a collegial "Hot Seat" with resident attendees.

Learning Objectives:

Upon completion, participants will be able to discuss the use of radiation therapy and stereotactic radiosurgery in the treatment of brain tumours.
Upon completion, participants will be able to discuss the use of chemotherapy in the treatment of brain tumours.
Upon completion, participants will be able to discuss how neurosurgeons can contribute to and participate in neuro-onocology research.
Upon completion, participants will be able to understand how neurosurgeons particpate and contribute to Brain Tumour Boards and discuss cases with their colleagues in other neuro-oncology focused specialities.
