Society Day Course
This session will review new developments in research, treatment, and diagnosis of dementia from several angles of interest to general neurologists and subspecialists alike. The COVID-19 pandemic has provided new insights into the mechanisms that cause dementia. These will be briefly reviewed. Additionally, the pandemic stimulated the rapid development of telehealth assessment of cognitive function, which will be reviewed. New pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments for dementia will be reviewed, and insights from the Canadian Consortium on Neurodegeneration in Aging will be provided.
