Description:

During this session, participants will hear from Canadian experts in the field of neuroinflammatory diseases. Topics to be discussed include pediatric antibody meditated encephaltitis, pediatric acute onset neuropsychiatric syndrome among others. Talks will be case based and allow time for discussion on the various topics.
This session is geared towards pediatric neurologists, adult neurologists, residents, fellows, nurses and allied health providers. At the end of the session, participants will be able to recognize, appropriately test and treat, and counsel families with various childhood autoimmune syndromes.

Learning Objectives:

  • At the end of the session, learners will be able to recognize specific childhood onset pediatric neuroinflammatory disorders by acquiring diagnostic tools (clinical, neuroimaging, neurophysiological).
  • Participants will learn how and when to appropriately test for various pediatric neuroinflammatory disorders.
  • Participants will have the opportunity to exchange ideas and present scenarios to our panel to come up with care models for the future.
