Neurocritical Care: A new take on the classics

Description:

Time marches on, and things change as we acquire new information about known pathologies. We will revisit our notions on treatment of subarachnoid hemorrhage, prognosis, management and monitoring post cardiac arrest, and the treatment of status epileptics. In all cases, we will be going beyond the guidelines.

Learning Objectives:

  • Be aware of the controversies surrounding medical therapies used for subarachnoid hemorrhage
  • Be aware of new innovative therapies to treat vasospasm
  • Know how to manage the CSF compartment after SAH
  • Be aware of the benefits of hypothermia post cardiac arrest and understand the literature underlying the choice of temperature target
  • Understand the role of continuous EEG in the management and prognosis of patients post cardiac arrest
  • Learn novel ways to treat status epilepticus
