Course
This course will highlight the advances in nerve surgery and rehabilitation that are reshaping the field of nerve injury. Peripheral nerve injuries lead to motor and sensory deficits, and affect the quality of life of many people. Options for treatment of complex plexus injuries, such as nerve transfers, are changing the outlook for patients with devastating injuries. The role and timing of nerve repair, conduits, and grafts will be discussed, as well as an update on surgical and non-surgical options for common compression neuropathies. Multidisciplinary care is key to optimizing outcomes and a framework for a team based approach will be discussed.
